The Prospector has the image of an archaeologist's hammer.
First Issued in 1912,
This proficiency badge was worn on the right arm, starting from
the cuff upwards in order of achievement.
To earn
the Prospector badge*
Must have a general knowledge of the
various periods of the formation of the earth’s crust, and which are water-bearing
rocks. Must understand stratification dip and faults. Must be able to identify Twenty
different minerals in their natural state; Twenty different fossils, and know
to what period they belong.
